Job Overview

DuPage Machine Products is a precision contract manufacturer serving OEM customers across multiple industries. We are seeking an experienced Tool Maker (Toolmaker) to join our Tool Room team. This role is responsible for building, repairing, and modifying machinists’ tools using manual and CNC equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

This is a hands-on position ideal for a skilled Toolmaker with strong blueprint reading ability, mechanical aptitude, and experience with mills, lathes, grinders, CNC machines, and EDM equipment .

Key Responsibilities

• Make, repair, and modify machinists’ tools, gauges, and fixtures
• Manufacture tools such as dovetails, counterbores, drills, and reamers
• Set up and operate lathes, grinders, CNC equipment, and EDM machines
• Analyze tool specifications and interpret advanced blueprints and job layouts
• Lay out metal stock and position parts on surface plates or worktables
• Fit and assemble parts to fabricate or repair cutting tools
• Verify dimensions and alignment using precision measuring instruments
• Modify standard tools as required for production needs
• Maintain a clean and organized work area
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Tool Room Supervisor

Requirements

Required Qualifications

• Tool Maker Certification or equivalent experience
• Advanced blueprint reading skills
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability
• Experience operating mills, lathes, grinders, CNC machines, and EDM equipment
• Advanced math skills
• Proficient computer skills
• Ability to read and understand basic English
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with coworkers
• Ability to stand 8–10 hours per shift

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Experience in a precision manufacturing or machine shop environment
• Familiarity with tool room best practices
• Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
