Job Title: Certified Medical Coder – Inpatient & Outpatient/ED
Location: Bronx, NY 10461 (Remote)
Type: Contract
Pay Rate: $35 – $37 per hour
Note: This role is fully remote after 1–2 weeks of onsite training.
Job Summary"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking Certified Medical Coder – Inpatient & Outpatient/ED for an exciting Remote job in Bronx, NY.
Key ResponsibilitiesMedical Coding & Documentation Review
Assign accurate ICD-9-CM, CPT-4, and HCPCS codes for Inpatient, Outpatient, and ED encounters.
Review clinical documentation, physician notes, operative reports, and diagnostic findings for correct code assignment.
Validate coding for medical necessity per payor and federal guidelines.
Ensure coding accuracy to support appropriate reimbursement and reduce denials.
Query providers regarding incomplete or unclear documentation.
Compliance & Quality Assurance
Adhere to CMS, AHIMA, AHA, and facility-specific coding standards.
Maintain compliance with federal, state, and payor billing regulations.
Stay current with coding updates and policy changes.
Participate in internal audits and quality improvement activities.
Meet established productivity and accuracy benchmarks.
Advanced knowledge of ICD-9-CM, CPT-4, HCPCS, and multi-specialty medical terminology.
Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, disease processes, and clinical workflows.
Proven experience in acute care coding, including:
Inpatient
Outpatient
Emergency Department (ED)
Ability to interpret and apply complex coding guidelines.
Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent accuracy and attention to detail.
RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or CCP (at least one required)
