Chemical Bulk Operator

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for supporting Stepan’s Safety, Environmental & Responsible Care policies including “stop work authority” to avoid unsafe or environmental incidents.
• Responsible for accurate record keeping in SAP.
• Prepares equipment for maintenance activities including cleaning and LOTOTO.
• Safely off-loads ethylene and propylene oxide (EO/PO) railcars to storage tanks. Both EO & PO are highly hazardous raw materials.
• Must be able to wear additional PPE when completing specific tasks.
• Responsible for safely off-loading bulk raw materials to storage tanks by both railcar and tank truck.
• Responsible for safely loading finished products from storage tanks to both railcars and tank trucks.
• Filters finished products through both a candle and polishing filters.
• Be an active member of the site emergency response team and complete all training as required.
• Performs all job-related duties as assigned with a high degree of dedication to safety and environmental stewardship.
• Must be willing to work overtime as required.

Qualifications

• Must be self-motivated and able to complete assigned duties with minimal supervision.
• Well organized with a focus on managing multiple tasks safely and responsibly.
• Must understand chemical process operations and have the ability to recognize and respond to operational difficulties and potential safety concerns.
• Be familiar with Distributed Control System (DCS) operation, basic instrumentation, and computer literate.
• Experience handling ethylene and propylene oxide is considered an asset.

SHIFT:

• Dupont schedule - 12 hour rotating shifts.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent
