Job Description
Responsibilities:
As an independent contractor, you may be engaged to perform some or all of the following deliverables, depending on project scope and location:
- Install, route, and dress high-volume copper and fiber cabling in AI data center environments
- Perform expert-level cable dressing and cable management in cabinets, side carts, overhead trays, and containment systems, using Velcro straps and industry-standard techniques to maintain airflow, serviceability, and scalability
- Build and maintain GPU cluster racks and associated side carts housing fiber trunk and breakout cabling.
- Install and manage fiber-heavy infrastructures, including SM/MM fiber, MPO/MTP trunks, and breakout assemblies.
- Perform accurate patching of all cable types across racks, side carts, and network equipment, including fiber (SM/MM, MPO/MTP) and copper (Cat6, AEC), ensuring proper polarity, routing, and documentation.
- Demonstrate the ability to read, understand, and verify cabling labels, port assignments, rack elevations, and fiber maps to prevent errors and support efficient troubleshooting and MAC activities.
- Demonstrates meticulous attention to detail and consistently produces clean, organized, and serviceable cable runs.
- Ability to maintain quality and precision while working in fast-paced, high-change deployment environments.
- Ensure strict compliance with bend radius, slack management, strain relief, and labeling standards.
- Execute MAC (Moves, Adds, Changes) work in live production environments with minimal risk and zero disruption.
- Proactively identify cabling, airflow, pathway, or physical layout issues that could impact performance, reliability, or scalability, and promptly raise concerns to the appropriate team or supervisor.
- Identify deviations from cabling standards, documentation gaps, or potential failure points and communicate them for remediation.
- Perform comprehensive QA/QC (Quality Assurance / Quality Control) on all completed cabling and rack work to ensure full compliance with project specifications and cabling standards.
- Manage inventory and material handling activities, including tracking, staging, and maintaining organized storage of cabling, hardware, and installation materials.
- Provide real-time status updates and reporting as directed by the client to support deployment visibility and schedule adherence.
- Assist with cable labeling activities and perform quality assurance checks to verify labeling accuracy, consistency, and compliance with project standards.
- Install and route fiber and copper cabling within cable tray systems in Data Hall environments, working at heights up to 12 feet.
- Execute proper fiber cleaning using approved tools and procedures to maintain optimal signal integrity and prevent contamination failures.
- Terminate, test, and validate copper and fiber cabling using industry-standard tools (Fluke, EXFO, & OTDR as required).
- Maintain accurate as-built documentation, rack elevations, and cable records.
- Follow all OSHA safety protocols and site-specific safety requirements while working in racks, overhead trays, and around side carts.
- Properly use required PPE, maintain a clean and safe work area, and immediately report unsafe conditions or incidents.
- Work closely with network engineering and deployment teams to support aggressive build schedules.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of data center structured cabling experience.
- Proven senior-level expertise in cable dressing and cable management, including the use of Velcro straps and structured cable organization.
- Extensive experience with fiber-dominant deployments and copper cabling including Cat6 and AEC cables, including MPO/MTP trunks and side-cart architectures.
- Fiber and Copper experience in Hyperscale Data Center, AI Data Centers, or relevant experience is preferred.
- Hands-on experience supporting GPU clusters, spine-leaf, or fabric-based network designs.
- Strong understanding of airflow management and serviceability in GPU dense racks.
- Ability to read and execute cabling diagrams, rack elevations, and fiber maps.
- Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team, contributing to shared goals in fast-paced deployment environments.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing cabling standards, configurations, and deployment requirements.
- Comfortable working independently when required while maintaining alignment with team standards.
- High attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
Physical Requirements
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in confined spaces.
- Comfortable working on ladders, inside racks, around side carts, and overhead tray systems.
- Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and work for extended periods.
- Willingness and ability to work overnight shifts, weekends, holidays or extended hours as required to support deployment schedules and maintenance windows
- Must have legal authorization to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship now or in the future
Certifications (Plus, but not required):
