Job Description

Overview:

This role is responsible for providing hands-on technical leadership while designing, developing, implementing, and supporting multi-layered enterprise applications. The Software Engineer serves as a subject matter expert across software engineering best practices and actively mentors junior engineers while contributing directly to complex development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the technical analysis, design, and development of complex application changes and project milestones across multiple systems within a platform.
• Execute and oversee technical initiatives that span multiple systems, ensuring stability, scalability, and maintainability.
• Serve as a technical mentor to Software Engineers I and II, providing guidance through code reviews, problem-solving, and technical training.
• Actively engage with business stakeholders through interviews and data-gathering activities to support application development and enhancements.
• Design, build, test, debug, document, and maintain complex application programs in alignment with coding standards.
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement effective containment and resolution strategies.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, including diagrams, flowcharts, layouts, charts, and code comments.
• Stay current with emerging development tools, programming techniques, and industry trends to continuously improve solutions.
• Participate in a weekly on-call rotation, providing production support outside standard business hours as required.
• Accurately track time worked and submit detailed invoices reflecting all approved hours.

Required Skills & Experience:

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Demonstrated experience designing and developing multi-layered enterprise applications.
• Proven ability to lead technical initiatives across multiple systems.
• Experience mentoring and supporting junior engineers through technical guidance and code reviews.
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) best practices.
• Experience working with front-end UI/UX concepts, APIs and microservices, schema development, and SecDevOps practices.
• Strong documentation skills, including technical diagrams and written specifications.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with business analysts, customers, and technical stakeholders.

Additional Information:

• This role is based in an established office environment in Memphis.
• On-call responsibilities include daily validations and occasional after-hours production support, typically requiring short time commitments.
• Contractors are compensated for active work hours related to on-call escalations and must be reachable within 30 minutes during designated off-hours.
